Our barn-reared poultry comes from Robert Whitwam of Golcar, who produces RSPCA Freedom Food barn-reared chickens. These chickens are slow maturing birds, which are taken to their full weight in a natural environment. They come at a premium, but we feel that you can really tell the difference. We source herb fed turkeys from York, all of which are free-range. Their flavour, texture, and juiciness far surpass anything you would find in a local supermarket. A lot of our customers prefer cockerels, as the perfect alternative to a traditional turkey for Christmas. Our cockerels are reared to around 6 kg. They are given more time to grow and mature, resulting in meat that is full of flavour and succulence.
